eBay profit sheet

eBay Spreadsheet: From Sugargoo Landed Cost to eBay Profit, Line by Line

Checked · the Sugargoo Spreadsheets team

The short version

Here is a free eBay profit sheet built for stock bought through Sugargoo. It starts from landed cost — item and Chinese delivery, your share of the international parcel, and duty — then subtracts eBay's fees and your postage. eBay's official US rates for most categories are 13.6% of the total sale, shipping included, plus $0.40 per order ($0.30 when the order is $10 or less); sneakers selling for $150 or more pay 8% and no per-order fee. In our example a $52.00 sale with $6.00 shipping and a $31.00 landed cost leaves $12.71. Resell only goods you have the right to sell: unbranded items or your own label.

16 finds for your own wardrobe, not your eBay shop

Several of these carry brand names, so keep them for personal hauls. They're still a cheap way to test sellers, sizes and shipping before sourcing unbranded stock. Each card opens on repbuysheet.com. The grid is only a sample; repbuysheet.com, where every card points, lists 10,000+ products you can filter by category and price.

Sponsored links. The photo, the name and the button on each card all lead to that item on repbuysheet.com, where the full gallery, sizes and original shop link are shown. Dollar and yuan prices were copied from there when this page was last checked.

What eBay keeps from each sale

eBay's Seller Center lists these standard US rates for sellers without a Store subscription. The detail most new resellers miss is that the percentage applies to the whole amount the buyer pays, postage included.

Verdict: On a typical clothing sale, plan for eBay to keep a little under 15% of everything the buyer pays.

Worked example: a $52.00 hoodie from Sugargoo

Take one unbranded heavyweight hoodie from a Weidian shop, bought through Sugargoo. The item and the seller's domestic delivery come to $19.00; its share of a combined international parcel is $9.00; duty adds $3.00. That's a landed cost of $31.00. You list it at $52.00, charge $6.00 shipping and spend $6.00 posting it.

One eBay sale, worked through
LineAmount
Buyer pays (price + shipping)$58.00
eBay final value fee (13.6% × $58.00)−$7.89
eBay per-order fee−$0.40
Postage you pay−$6.00
Landed cost from Sugargoo−$31.00
Profit$12.71 (21.9% of what the buyer paid)

These figures come from the same formulas as the downloadable sheet. Your own numbers will differ.

The freight share is the line people guess worst. Sugargoo charges by weight and line, and it's the whole parcel that's weighed, so a hoodie's share depends on what else is in the box. Weigh the parcel, split the freight by each item's weight, and put that figure in column D. Sugargoo's shipping lines and the duty calculator give you the other inputs.

Inside the free eBay profit sheet

The CSV opens in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers. One row per item; the formulas are already in every row:

  1. Columns A–F, landed cost: item name, Weidian or Taobao link, item plus domestic delivery, freight share, duty, and the total.
  2. Columns G–I, the sale: eBay price, shipping you charge, and Y or N for sneakers at $150 or more.
  3. Columns J–K, eBay's cut: final value fee at 13.6% or 8%, and the per-order fee of $0.30, $0.40 or nothing.
  4. Columns L–P, the result: postage you pay, profit, margin, and the dates listed and sold.

Keep the item link in column B. When a Weidian listing sells out, the link lets you search the same shop for a restock without starting over, and it keeps the sheet independent of any one agent's link format.

What you can resell, and what VeRO removes

eBay's Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) programme lets brands report listings that use their names, logos or designs, and eBay removes them. Repeat reports can restrict or suspend an account. Many items on finds spreadsheets carry brand names, so they are for your own wardrobe, not for resale.

What resells cleanly from Sugargoo is unbranded or own-label stock: blank heavyweight hoodies and tees, plain bags, jewellery without logos, and pieces you customise yourself. The 1688 page covers buying blanks in small wholesale lots, which is where the margin in the example usually comes from.

Verdict: If a brand could file a VeRO report on it, don't list it. Source unbranded, and the sheet does the rest.

Protecting a thin margin

Three habits keep thin margins from disappearing:

  • Test one parcel before scaling. Order two or three units, check QC photos and real weight, and only then fill the sheet with a bigger order.
  • Mind storage. Sugargoo stores items free for 100 days; resellers who wait for a full box can hit that limit.
  • Count payment fees. Paying Sugargoo by card costs 4.8% + $0.50; put it into column C or your margin is overstated.
  • Record the sale date. Items that sit unsold for months tie up money; the listed and sold columns show which kinds of stock actually move.

eBay reselling questions

How much does eBay take from a sale?

For most categories, including clothing, 13.6% of the total the buyer pays (shipping included) plus $0.40 per order, or $0.30 if the order is $10 or less. Sneakers at $150 or more pay 8% and no per-order fee.

Can I resell Sugargoo finds on eBay?

Only items you have the right to sell, such as unbranded or own-label goods. Branded items can be removed under eBay's VeRO programme, and repeat reports can restrict your account.

What is landed cost?

Everything it costs to get an item to your door: item price and Chinese delivery, its share of the international parcel, and duty. It's the right starting point for any resale price.

How do I split Sugargoo shipping across items?

Divide the parcel's freight by weight: an item that is a quarter of the parcel's weight carries a quarter of the cost. Enter that in the freight-share column.

Does eBay charge its fee on shipping?

Yes. The final value fee is a percentage of the total amount of the sale, which includes what the buyer pays for postage.

Does the sheet work in Google Sheets?

Yes. Import the CSV into Google Sheets, Excel or Numbers; the formulas carry over.
